MillsHill – food for thought #3

A politician needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn’t happen. (Winston Churchill, quoted in the Daily Mail).

MillsHill – food for thought #2

A quarter of people over the age of 55 have less than £500 in savings. (The Daily Telegraph)

MillsHill – food for thought #1

In April 2010, 11% of jobs in the UK economy paid less than £6.50 per hour. (The Independent on Sunday)

So, assuming a 37.5 hour week that’s an annual salary of £12,675.

Why do clients need help managing virtual estates? #VMware #vSphere

Just had a very very interesting chat with a client of mine.

His company is increasingly being asked by clients for help managing their virtual estates.

His answers as to why this is happening was very interesting. They include:

  • Current staff leaving; thus lack of in-house skills
  • Client can only afford one VCP & they leave
  • Client has dropped a ‘clanger’/crashed their systems
  • Staff have lost confidence and want third party help
  • They want someone else to blame
  • Realise they are not getting the best out of VMware and deploying it inefficiently, e.g. need better ESX design – less memory – more stability – better DR

Is this your experience of clients & virtual estates?

Any comments?

#Storage Solutions at typically half to a quarter of the price of EMC, HDS, HP etc

Want to work for a company who’s storage/DR solutions are typically a half to a quarter of the price of the likes of EMC, HDS or HP?!

Permanent Systems Engineer role – c£42K + bonus.

Want to get a bonus of £1250 when you pass your VCP? or if you have a VCP already to gain advanced VMware datacentre certification and/or Red Hat certification?

Want to work alongside a real IT heavyweight – 25 years in the business, massively connected in the storage space – learn how to be a true consultant/’trusted advisor’?

You are technical generalist & have knowledge of the ‘broader infrastructure’ picture, e.g. networks, servers, storage, apps, VMware/virtualisation, etc.

The perfect ‘land & expand’ role!

#Citrix Consultant – become a #CCIE – perm – UK wide

Join a ‘premier league’ Citrix partner that is looking to double its consultancy team within a year.

Because of my client’s business strategy they are now getting longer, larger scale, more complex, ‘top end’ enterprise consultancy projects involving products right across the Citrix stack & third party products such as Appsense, Thinprint, Uniprint, etc. Thus you will become an all round Citrix Consultancy rather than a ‘one trick pony’ on one product.

Aim is to have all members of consultancy team at CCIA level.

Package c£55K base + £6K car + bens.
